Who Chooses a Private Retreat
Most of our guests join a group, and small groups work well. A private or VIP retreat makes sense when:
- You are coming as a couple, with friends or with family and want the ceremonies to be yours alone.
- You need discretion, because of your work or public profile.
- You are working on something you would rather not process in front of strangers, such as grief, trauma or a relationship.
- You simply need quiet and your own space to rest between ceremonies.
With VIP, the ceremony is only for you or for the people you book with; nobody else joins.
Small Groups of Eight, Not Thirty
Many ayahuasca retreats in Peru work with groups of 15 to 30 people. Ours never go above eight. In a small group the shaman can actually sit with you when the ceremony gets difficult, the translator can reach you quickly, and integration circles leave time for everyone to speak.
Group programs run even if you are the only person booked that day, so a group booking can sometimes turn out to be private.
The Rooms and the Center
Our retreat center is in the Huayllapampa valley, in the district of San Jerónimo, about an hour from Cusco.
- Group: a spacious room on the second floor with shared beds and a private bathroom.
- Private: a small private room on the second floor with its own bathroom.
- VIP: a larger room on the first floor with its own bathroom and views over the valley, the mountains and the river.
Who Leads the Ceremonies
Ayahuasca ceremonies are led by our Shipibo shamans, from the Ucayali river basin in the Peruvian Amazon. San Pedro and the Andean rituals are led by our Q’ero masters, Santiago Salas and Andrés Apaza. A translator is with you in every ceremony.
Our retreat center has been running for 13 years, and our guests rate us 4.9 out of 5 from 143 reviews on Google.
Safety and Screening
Private or not, the protocol is the same:
- Preliminary Diagnostic Form before we confirm your booking.
- Signed informed consent.
- An exam with a specialist if your answers show a possible issue, at the participant’s cost.
Ayahuasca is not suitable for people taking antidepressants or certain other medications, people with heart conditions or a history of psychosis, or pregnant women. More in is ayahuasca safe?. Arrive in Cusco at least one day before your retreat, two or three if your schedule allows.
How to Book a Private Retreat
Choose your program, then tell us on WhatsApp whether you want private or VIP, your dates and how many people are coming. Our booking assistant confirms availability and sends you the health form.
San Pedro also comes in private and VIP options: see our San Pedro ceremony in Cusco. For costs beyond the retreat itself, read our ayahuasca retreat cost guide.
