You can take part in an ayahuasca ceremony in the Sacred Valley with us as a 1-day program in Urubamba, on request, and the same goes for San Pedro. We pick you up at your hotel in Cusco, at our office (426-A Retiro Street, 5th Floor), or at your hotel if you’re already staying in the Sacred Valley. Ceremonies are led by our Shipibo or Q’ero shamans with an English translator, and the price starts at USD 210 per person plus a transport supplement that our booking assistant confirms.

Our Ceremonies
in the Sacred Valley

Two ceremonies, one day each

Both come in group, private and VIP options, and can include the five Andean Inca techniques: volcanic medicinal water, coca leaf reading, energy cleansing, an offering to Pachamama and a flowering bath.

Prices and Options

The base price is the same as for our 1-day programs: from USD 210 per person in a group, up to USD 525 for a fully private VIP day with the Andean techniques. Holding the ceremony in Urubamba adds a transport supplement, which our booking assistant confirms when you send your dates and group size.

Our multi-day retreats (2, 3, 5 and 7 days) take place at our retreat center in the Huayllapampa valley, an hour from Cusco, not in the Sacred Valley. If you want several ceremonies, see our ayahuasca retreats in Peru.

Ayahuasca in the Sacred Valley: What to Know

How a Ceremony Day in the Sacred Valley Works

  1. Booking and screening. You fill in our Preliminary Diagnostic Form and sign an informed consent. Our booking assistant confirms your date and the transport supplement.
  2. Pickup. We pick you up at your hotel in Cusco, at our office (426-A Retiro Street, 5th Floor), or at your hotel if you’re already staying in the Sacred Valley. From Cusco, the drive to Urubamba takes about an hour and a half.
  3. Opening and preparation. The shaman opens the ceremony and asks for your intention, with the translator helping. You drink the volcanic medicinal water as a cleanse; in the five-technique option, the coca leaf reading and the energy cleansing come next.
  4. The ceremony. Ayahuasca can be held by day or by night. San Pedro is always a daytime ceremony, largely outdoors.
  5. Closing and integration. You talk through what came up, and in the five-technique option the day closes with the Pachamama offering and the flowering bath. Then we take you back to your hotel, in Cusco or in the valley.
What to Expect Ayahuasca Ceremony

Urubamba sits on the floor of the Sacred Valley, at about 2,870 meters, roughly 500 meters lower than Cusco. Many people find the lower altitude easier on the body, especially on a first day of ceremony.

The valley is quieter than the city, with the Urubamba River below and the snow peaks of the Apus above. For San Pedro, a medicine taken in daylight and mostly outdoors, that landscape is part of the experience. It is also convenient if your trip continues to Ollantaytambo and the train to Machu Picchu.

To understand why the valley matters in Andean tradition, read why the Sacred Valley shapes the ayahuasca experience.
